Fine Cinnamon Waffles
These fine cinnamon waffles are very delicious served with tea. They also taste great as a decoration for ice cream. However, this historical recipe is best baked over an open fireplace in old waffle irons.
Method:
- Gradually stir the dough ingredients with a wooden spoon until smooth.
- Gradually add the butter, then the sugar and finally the eggs.
- Then the cinnamon and finally the flour.
- From this supple mass form small walnut-sized balls with flour-dusted hands.
- Heat the waffle iron, rub both sides with a fresh bacon rind or, alternatively, add a little oil.
- Place the dough ball in the middle of the iron and carefully press together. Bake the waffles golden yellow to light brown.
- Waffle irons with long handles are best for open fireplaces, that way you can turn the waffle iron over the fire again and again.
