Vanilla powder for pudding or vanilla sauce

Making your own powder for vanilla pudding or vanilla sauce is very easy. Potato or cornflour together with the pulp of the vanilla pods and a little salt form the basis. This starch powder with real bourbon vanilla can be used to conjure up both pudding and a great vanilla sauce.

Duration: 10-30 Minutes

Amount: 1 jar of powder, 1 litre of custard or 1 litre of vanilla sauce

Ingredients:

For the vanilla powder:

500 grams of potato or corn starch

4-6 vanilla pods

1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

For the vanilla pudding:

1 litre of milk or plant based milk

90 grams of custard powder

2–4 tablespoons of raw cane sugar

For the custard:

1 litre of milk or plant based milk

60 grams of custard powder

2–4 tablespoons of raw cane sugar

Method:

For the vanilla powder:

Place the cornflour, the scraped-out pulp from the vanilla pods and the salt in a tall glass and shake well. That's it.

For the vanilla pudding:

1. Pour 1 litre of milk into a saucepan.

2. Weigh 90 grams of the vanilla powder into a mug and mix with 6 tablespoons of the cold milk and the raw cane sugar.

3. bring the rest of the milk to the boil in the pan and pour in the custard powder and milk mixture while stirring.

4 Stir until it starts to thicken.

5. pour into small bowls or a pudding mould and leave to cool.

Tip: Serve with compote or fresh fruit.

For the vanilla sauce:

1. Pour 1 litre of milk into a saucepan.

2. take 6 tablespoons of the milk and mix with 60 g of the vanilla powder and the raw cane sugar.

3. bring the milk to the boil and pour in the vanilla powder and milk mixture, stirring until it starts to thicken slightly. The sauce is ready.
