Buttermilk dessert
This recipe for buttermilk dessert comes from the handwritten cookery book of Gustchen Schaumburg, who attended the household school in Kassel from 1937 to 1938. An excellent dessert served with vanilla sauce.
Method:
- Pour the buttermilk into a pan and heat gently.
- Stir the white and red gelatine leaves previously soaked in cold water into the warm buttermilk.
- Now add the sugar, lemon zest and lemon juice.
- Leave the mixture to cool.
- Brush the glass bowl or pudding mould with a thin layer of coconut oil and chill.
- Pour the buttermilk mixture into the glass mould and leave to cool overnight.
- Remove from the mould the next day and serve with vanilla sauce.
